When you hear “Scottish Elopement” you probably think straight away of Gretna Green, the spiritual home of the runaway wedding.

With more relaxed wedding laws in Scotland versus England it was an ancient tradition to run away over the border to Scotland to exchange vows in secret.

Whilst times have changed the tradition certainly still exists with many couples choosing to head north to Scotland when planning their elopement and it’s easy to understand why.

With its natural beauty, Scotland can’t be beaten, our rugged mountains, secluded island getaways and legal outdoor ceremonies Scotland has a lot to offer for adventurous couples.

Witnesses

Weddings in Scotland require two legal witnesses for the wedding ceremony, but don’t fear! We will be your witnesses.

Here at The Lodge on Loch Goil, we regard this as a great honour to be chosen to witness your ceremony.

I have arranged over 1,200 weddings with many of them being elopements.

The modern couple knows no boundaries, and if they want to get married in a Treehouse like ours, the wedding becomes less traditional and very unique.

Remember, elopements don’t always take the same form as a traditional wedding, but to get married without the knowledge of others, is still a very brave thing to do, but remember you can still elope in complete luxury.
