Eloping
Could you do it?
If you are planning a wedding, it can be very stressful so eventually, at some point or another, we will all dream about eloping and leaving all the stress behind.
As a human being with actual feelings, you probably care at least a little about what people think during all the secrecy, well unless you have a heart of stone.
I have arranged many elopements over the past 18 years here at the Lodge.
But! I will always ask them, “Are you sure that you do not want anyone here to celebrate with you?“
The reason I ask them that question, I have had a lot of experience of couples who panic when they are just about to do it, suddenly releasing there are no parents or friends and the fear of that can be very overwhelming.
I remember one young couple who took a photo of their dogs with a sign saying our owners are getting married in a treehouse today, after the wedding ceremony they posted it on facebook NOT! a great idea suddenly their phones were ringing, texts and emails pinging in and suddenly the couple started to panic parents were very angry and family members very disappointment…
So it should come as no surprise that the fear of telling people you have decided to elope is a concern for many couples who have made that very decision.
When you decide to elope, I feel you have to be a strong individual couple.
While there are many good reasons for couples wanting to elope…
Costs, stress, family feuds etc, you really shouldn’t let your fear of telling people about your decisions prevent you from following your dreams…
Elopement is Magical
You can marry the person you love without any input from family or friends, yes we all know as I said it takes a special type of couple to do it, but if following your dreams like my couple did then you will have no regrets.
Brides Words
From the very first moment that we arrived at the picturesque Lodge at Loch Goil, we felt we had entered a fairytale. Greeted by Alice upon arrival we were given a tour of the stunning Lodge and its exceptional facilities. Our bridal suite was gorgeous with views and a balcony looking out to the Loch with the treehouse in pride of place. The fire was roaring in the plush lounge and the scrumptious afternoon tea hit the spot.
It only got better from there as we came down for an amazing 3-course meal expertly prepared by the Lodge’s talented chef. We were blown away by the food and couldn’t believe we were having such exceptional food prepared for just the two of us!
The following day was the wedding day. Alice couldn’t have been more perfect, constantly going above and beyond to help us.
With the snow carpeting the grounds our intimate wedding in the treehouse, with Alice and Iain as witnesses, was picture perfect and we honestly could not have dreamt of a more perfect ceremony. Alice coordinated everything seamlessly and we were again astonished by the amazing food at our wedding breakfast served, despite snow and hail, in the treehouse. It was perfect.
Alice’s Words
Máire and Donald got married in our famous treehouse earlier this year with no guests, just myself and Iain as their witnesses.
I have to say its one of the best weddings I have ever arranged in all my time in the wedding industry.
This couple were so together and complete soul mates…
When they met not even a year ago they both knew instantly that they could not be apart and decided to get married right away.
Arranging the wedding was a very simple affair, Máire new exactly what she wanted and that is what I delivered on the day…
“Let’s elope to a place where no one can find us
Where our souls and dreams stay together with us always”
