A Dream Day for a Beautiful Wedding
A Dream Day
Today, we share the wedding of this amazing couple, Sanna and Jamie, who tied the knot in our stunning romantic venue.
Organising a dream wedding from abroad is not as hard as you may think with Sanna and Jamie living in the Cayman Islands over 4,500 miles from the UK they could not just pop in to the Lodge for a chat. A lot of the organisation was done by email and telephone calls.
Wherever your heart and imagination take you, we will be there to help.
Sanna’s Words
Jamie and I have been together for ten years now. Jamie is from Surrey and I am half Scottish and half Dutch.
We met when we were both working in London, Jamie as a Property Surveyor and myself as a Creative Producer for The History Channel.
Since then we have changed things up a bit and moved to the Caribbean. First in Barbados for five years and for the last year we have been living in the Cayman Islands. I have started teaching science and Jamie continues to enjoy working in the property industry.
We met at a Rugby 7s tournament in Richmond. Jamie and I had never met before, but he somehow guessed that I was from The Netherlands and opened up with a line in Dutch. They were the only Dutch words he knew, but they worked like a charm and I was smitten!
Jamie proposed to me on our favourite beach in Barbados on Christmas Eve. We had the beach to ourselves as we toasted the moment in the sea as we watched the sunset. Perfect.
I knew that I wanted to get married in Scotland. I have always been drawn to water so the Trossachs was an obvious place to start looking. It wasn’t long before I came across The Lodge and instantly fell in love with the setting (and the Treehouse of course)! I knew it would suit us both perfectly. It has grandeur yet was so intimate, it has beautiful, panoramic views yet was so private, and it was so luxurious yet felt like home.
We had a wonderful time celebrating with our family and closest friends. We had 70 guests arriving from all over the globe and it felt like we had let them all in on our secret, beautiful place. Everyone was so thrilled to discover it with us and are still talking about it today. The service was impeccable and Alice looked after us personally, caring for all of the little details so that I didn’t need to worry about anything on the day.
We had a fun and vibrant BBQ the night before which gave us a great chance to catch up with everyone that we hadn’t seen for so long. We enjoyed fine food, excellent wine and danced the night away.
The day itself all went by so quickly but I shall cherish every moment, particularly when the bagpiper played ‘The Gael’ as we came out of the Treehouse officially married and overlooking everyone we love.

Putting Scotland on the map for overseas weddings
One of the things I loved about Sanna and Jamie’s wedding was the guests who travelled from all around the world to join them here in Scotland to celebrate their dream day.
Scotland is an amazing country of great history and style, what makes us different from other countries is us the Scottish people.
We have more backbone, and more spirit than you could possibly find anywhere else. We are kind, generous, and not afraid to speak our minds. That is one of the reasons people travel half way around the world to tie the knot in bonny Scotland.
